Applying DTF Transfers with an Obziy Heat Press
Designed around Obziy’s built-in presets for reliable, repeatable results.
Use DTF Mode on the Obziy control panel for one-touch operation. The factory preset is optimized for most DTF films and garments.
DTF Pre-Set Parameters:
-
Temperature: 305°F (152°C)
-
Time: 20 seconds
-
Pressure: 110 lb
Step-by-Step Pressing Instructions
1. Position Your Design
For best results, pre-press the garment (T-shirt, hoodie, etc.) for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. Allow the fabric to cool completely before placing the transfer.
Position the DTF transfer on the garment with the color side facing up and the powder side facing down in direct contact with the fabric.
Typical placement guidelines:
-
Adult T-shirt (front): 3–4 inches below the collar
-
Youth T-shirt (front): 2–3 inches below the collar
-
Back prints: approximately 1 inch lower than front placement
Once positioned, cover the transfer with the included Teflon sheet to protect the platen and ensure even heat distribution.
2. Press
Press the DTF button on the Obziy control panel to activate the pre-set parameters, then press START.
The upper platen will lower automatically, and the timer will begin counting down. Apply even, consistent pressure—the preset 110 lb pressure is designed to ensure full contact without damaging garment fibers.
If adhesion is incomplete, you may re-press using the same settings or switch to Custom Mode to slightly adjust temperature or time as needed.
3. Peel the Film
Follow the instructions specified by your DTF film manufacturer:
-
Hot Peel: Peel the carrier film immediately after pressing while the transfer is still hot.
-
Cold Peel: Allow the transfer to cool completely before peeling.
If any part of the design lifts, place the film back down, cover with the Teflon sheet, and press again.
4. Final Press (Recommended)
After peeling, cover the design with the Teflon sheet or a single layer of fabric and press again for 15–20 seconds at the same temperature and pressure.
This final press improves adhesion, enhances durability, and creates a smoother, more professional finish suitable for repeated washing and daily wear.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Design doesn't stick | Temperature too low. Time too short. | Increase temp/time. Check garment type. |
| Design feels rough/cracked | Temperature too high. Time too long. Pressure too high. | Decrease temp/time/pressure. |
| Ink bleeds | Garment not pre-pressed. Moisture present. | Always pre-press garment to remove moisture. |
| Uneven transfer | Press not level. Uneven pressure. | Re-level the machine. Adjust pressure. |
| Machine won't turn on | No power. Loose connection. | Check outlet and power cord. Ensure plug is secure. |
